It's name is derived from the belief that the red flecks within the stone are due to the blood of Christ dripping onto green jasper during the crucifixion. Bloodstone also known as the 'martyr's stone' symbolises courage. The gemstone can be found in India, Brazil, Uruguay, Australia, and the United States.

Cat's Eye

Cat's eye gemstone

Its name is derived from its resemblance to the eye of a cat and if put in a dark place the gemstone will shine like the eyes of a cat. The gemstone can be found in India, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Brazil, China, Russia and Burma.

It's name is derived from the French word 'citrin' meaning lemon. Citrine symbolises hope and strength. The gemstone can be found in Brazil, Bolivia and Madagascar. Citrine can be easily scratched and can permanently change color if left in the sunlight or heat for several hours.

Garnet

It's name is derived from its resemblance to the deep red seeds of a pomegranate fruit and comes from the Latin word 'granatus' meaning grain or seed. The Garnet is said to represent friendship, loyalty, and fidelity, ensure good health and protect during travel. In ancient times it was thought to be connected to the blood and assumed to have medicinal powers protecting against poison and depression. The garnet originated in Sri Lanka, but is also found in South America and the United States. Although thought of as a red gemstone the garnet comes in a variety of colours.
